Sunday, September 12: 10 a.m. worship will include The Blessing of the Backpacks for all students, young and not so young. Also if you can, bring a gently used (or new) backpack to be blessed and sent to the Bendriani Orphanage in the country of Georgia. September 11 Memorial Service
Saturday, September 11, at 5:00 p.m. Music, prayers, and reflection on the anniversary of September 11, 2001. All are invited. The offering will go to the 9/11 Scholarship which is awarded to two Tuxedo high school seniors each spring.
Funeral Mass for Kevin McDevitt
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's for Kevin McDevitt on Wednesday, September 8 at 11 a.m. All are invited.
The Altar Guild is a ministry of about twelve faithful workers who serve St. Mary’s with reverence, devotion, and attention to detail. The members serve in pairs for two weeks about every two months. Their duties are to prepare the altars for Sunday services, Wednesday Chapel services, and special services as they come up, i.e. Weddings, Baptisms, Funerals, etc.
A check is kept on vestments for cleaning, laundering, and small repairs. Some linen is laundered by members as well. Supplies of candles, wine, and wafers need to be purchased on a regular basis. Periodically, silver and brass needs polishing.
The flowers on the altar at Sunday services are donated by parishioners in memory of loved ones, in celebration of a birthday or anniversary, or in gratitude for blessing.
