Sunday, September 12: 10 a.m. worship will include The Blessing of the Backpacks for all students, young and not so young. Also if you can, bring a gently used (or new) backpack to be blessed and sent to the Bendriani Orphanage in the country of Georgia. September 11 Memorial Service
Saturday, September 11, at 5:00 p.m. Music, prayers, and reflection on the anniversary of September 11, 2001. All are invited. The offering will go to the 9/11 Scholarship which is awarded to two Tuxedo high school seniors each spring.
Funeral Mass for Kevin McDevitt
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's for Kevin McDevitt on Wednesday, September 8 at 11 a.m. All are invited.
The choir is led by Jimrae Lenser, our Director of Music, and has five paid soloist/section leaders. There are approximately seven additional volunteer singers who join the choir on a regular basis. Choir members, who are available, sing at funerals and memorial services and go caroling with a volunteer group of parishioners at Christmas.
One choir member serves as the librarian and secretary for the music program. The organ and Steinway grand piano are tuned on a regular basis.
Challenges for the future are to recruit more choir members, establish a children’s choir, and explore new ways to incorporate music into worship and the broader life of St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo.
